Conference Format
Offering a unique and dynamic format for The Buttonwood Conferences, the goal is to provide the most beneficial interactions between the sponsors and BD/RIA/FO representatives for the ultimate alternative investment experience. Our format is as follows:

Presentations:

Groups of 5 sponsors will present in the following 3-part format:

 

  • Part 1: Full Group, Main Presentation
    • 10 min Quick Pitch by each Sponsor
  • Part 2:  Small Group Discussions
    • BD/RIAs broken into 5 smaller groups that the Presenting Sponsors will rotate through for the small group sessions.
    • 15 min with EACH presenting sponsor to ask questions and get more details on the program/sponsor.
  • Part 3: BD/RIA/FO-Only Discussion Session
    • BD/RIA/FO-Only discussion session where you can ask questions of the Buttonwood analysts on the presented products and sponsors.

Social Events:

We strongly believe that of equal importance to the presentations, is the opportunity to engage and talk with the sponsors and other BD/RIA attendees in more informal settings over the course of several days. This includes:

 

  • Opening Evening Reception and Dinner
    • Kick-start the conference and make early connections
  • Buttonwood Signature Dinner Event
    • Off-site dinner event designed to be a relaxing and enjoyable event, not just a meal
  • Meals and Breaks
    • Enjoy the traditional networking opportunities during the meals and breaks throughout the conference

Please note Buttonwood's investment research, due diligence reviews and this conference are designed to provide the BDs, RIAs, and Family Offices with the opportunity to analyze each program being presented, but do not offer any specific recommendations regarding their approval. We believe it is incumbent upon each BD/RIA/FO to choose for themselves which product(s) to approve. Each firm may choose to accept or not accept products based on its individual risk tolerance and approved product list.

Please see the notes below regarding expected participation in presentations and social events. We aim to provide an enjoyable experience alongside the deep dives into the programs being offered. Your attendance and participation are a key component of our format and the successful educational opportunity being presented.

Transportation/Lodging/Reimbursement Information

Travel Policy:

BD/RIA/FOs qualify for complimentary hotel rooming, along with transportation related expenses up to $600, applicable to air or car travel for up to 2 individuals per firm (space permitting). Buttonwood will cover a maximum of 3 rooming nights (M/T/W) based on qualified event attendance per person. Due to our limited number of attendees, firms are limited to 1 attendee, with a maximum of 2 attendees, if space allows. You will be notified by Buttonwood if more than 2 representatives have registered from the same firm and/or if we can only accommodate 1 attendee.

*Important* Hotel, airfare, and event fees are paid for the attendees, based on the understanding that BD/RIA/FO attendees will attend all conference presentations and events as may be specified. Buttonwood reserves the right to no reimbursement amounts, or a portion thereof, of any registrant who does not adhere to announced attendance expectations. We appreciate your understanding of this policy!

Attendance Expectations:

  • Monday, June 23, 2025 - 5:30pm - 7:30pm PST
  • Tuesday, June 24, 2025 - 7:30am - 9:00pm PST
  • Wednesday, June 25, 2024 - 7:30am - 1:30pm PST

Due to the unique nature of our format and the limited attendance, BD/RIA attendees are expected to participate in all presentation/small group/BD-RIA only sessions. Sign-ins will be taken. Please don't schedule meetings with sponsors during the presentation blocks.

Basic agenda is included below to assist with travel planning.

Reimbursement Information:

The following expenses will be reimbursed or paid for directly by Buttonwood. Anything not listed here will be at the attendee's expense and is not considered a reimburseable expense.

Covered Expenses:

Transportation:

  1. Travel by Air: Airfare to San Diego International Airport - up to $600, economy only
  2. Travel by Car: Those attendees driving to the conference and not flying: Mileage from starting location to hotel and back at 2025 IRS mileage reimbursement rate ($0.70) - up to $600
  3. Transportation to/from Hilton La Jolla and the San Diego International Airport (see details below)

Lodging:

  1. 3 Nights - 6/23, 6/24, 6/25 ONLY, including hotel room/fees/taxes. Attendee is responsible for charges incurred for incidentals, additional rooming outside of the 3 covered nights, or if attendee does not show/cancels room less than 1 week prior to event.

Meals & Events:

  1. All meals beginning 6/23 Dinner* to 6/25 Lunch*
    • *Dinner 6/23 is provided at reception only
    • *Dinner 6/25 is provided if attending sponsor dine-arounds
  2. All events related to the official Buttonwood conference are included
    • Golf is covered for attendees (limited availability), club rentals are at attendees' expense

Not Covered Expenses

  1. Travel to/from attendees home or office to the airport
  2. Additional nights outside of the previously designated nights
  3. Parking at hotel (valet or self-park) Discounted rate for self parking is $35 per day
  4. Airport parking
  5. Golf club rentals if needed
  6. Anything not listed specifically above in covered expenses

Transportation:

Please make your own travel arrangements. Buttonwood will process reimbursements post-conference, after your attendance has been confirmed. Please send all travel information to Alyna once booked so shuttles and hotel arrangements can be confirmed. Alyna@ButtonwoodLLC.net

 

Airport:

San Diego International Airport

 

Transportation to/from Resort and Airport: Transportation to & from the Hilton La Jolla-Torrey Pines and San Diego International Airport will be covered by Buttonwood. Once you've booked your flight, please send that information to Alyna so transportation can be arranged accordingly. If arriving early or staying post conference, please make separate arrangements for transportation and submit receipts to Alyna for reimbursement. Limit of $40 per trip cost

Room Reservations:

Buttonwood will cover hotel room/fees/taxes for the nights of 6/23, 6/24, 6/25. Charges will be incurred for incidentals, additional rooming beyond the nights of 6/23, 6/24, 6/25, or if you do not show up/cancel your room. You will be asked to provide a valid card to the hotel upon check-in to cover incidentals. Your room must be cancelled 1 week prior to your arrival date for no charge to be incurred. If you have to cancel, please notify Alyna as soon as possible at Alyna @ButtonwoodLLC.net or 720-360-1082.

 

Additional Room Nights:

Group room rates are $269.00 + taxes/fees and will hold for 3 days before and after the Conference and are subject to availability. If you would like to arrive early or stay longer, please specify the additional nights during registration, or contact Alyna as soon as possible to modify the reservation.

 

Check-in is after 4:00PM; check-out is before 11:00AM. If checking in prior to 4:00PM, hotel will hold luggage until room is available.

 

Attire: 

Conference functions are Smart Casual. Activities and meals will be outdoors, dress for comfort and varying coastal weather (cool mornings, warm days, cool evenings). Conference facility temps are typical.

      • Dinner Cruise through San Diego Harbor!
  • Wednesday, June 25
    • 8am-1:30pm Conference Presentations & Closing Lunch
      • Sponsor Presentations, Small Group Q&A Sessions, BD/RIA Only Sessions, Closing Lunch
    • Optional Social Events
      • 1:30pm-6:30pm Golf at Torrey Pines (limited availability)
      • 7p Sponsor Hosted Dine-Arounds
    • BD/RIA Attendees are able to check out and depart Wednesday afternoon after the closing lunch. Hotel is covered Wednesday night for those attendees that choose to stay. Please note: Do not make travel arrangements that require you to leave prior to the end of the official conference events!
  • Thursday, June 26- Check out or extend your stay for the weekend
    • Discounted rates are good for 3 days prior and post event!
